Japanese players subbed to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, which includes the Game Boy Advance library, can now officially play Mother 3. It was revealed in Japan’s version of the recent Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase.
The bad news is there’s no word yet as of this writing if it’ll follow in the West. In 2022, though, Nintendo of America released the first and second titles—EarthBound Beginnings and EarthBound—on NSO. If you can’t wait any longer, a famous fan translation for Mother 3 exists online.
In celebration of Mother 3’s NSO launch, creator Shigesato Itoi shared a letter to fans with a heart-wrenching explanation of why he named the series “Mother“. Read the English translation provided by Twitter/X user StageCraftBeast (@StageCraftBeast) below.
