When King Records ran a vast series of Dragon Quest album reprints, they split up the “Symphonic Suite + OST” released by SPE Visual Works for Dragon Quest VII. This particular release is for the OST portion. And what can I say about it? Basically, it’s a PSOne synth version of the music Sugiyama wrote originally for a full symphony orchestra.
In other words, I’m not a huge fan.
If you’re into Dragon Quest music, you’re probably in it for the full symphonic suite sound. And that’s what I’d recommend you pursue. But if you think there is some merit to having the synth OST as well, then you’ll be glad to know that this album was printed in 2009. If you’re interested, pick it up before it, like so many DQ albums before now, goes out of print.
