We’ve arrived at possibly the final RPGs Coming This Week of the year. The 2023 release calendar is sparse from here on out, and, while anything is possible, I don’t expect that to change anymore. And that’s okay! There’s been an absolute deluge of games to play this year, and judging by the first few months of 2024, there will be again!

Bahnsen Knights – December 14th (Windows, macOS)
This Christmas, one man will go undercover to take down a mysterious, murderous cult of religious freaks. Will he make it out alive? Or will he fall to the demonic forces at work… from above. That’s the gist of Bahnsen Knights, a stylishly lurid new graphic adventure from Mothmen 1966 maker LCB Game Studio. Well, save for the Christmas part; I simply find it amusing that the developer and/or publisher chose this time of year to put the game out.
Not to make light of the real reason, though. Bahnsen Knights was delayed from October due to the passing of one of the developers’ loved ones, to whom the game is now dedicated. Also worth noting is that the PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch releases of Bahnsen Knights have been pushed back to January 18th, 2024, for an unknown reason.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero – Part 2: The Indigo Disk – December 14th (Switch)
The second part of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet‘s The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero expansion is finally here. With The Indigo Disk, expect to explore a previously uncharted section of Area Zero, encounter old and new ‘mons (at least new versions of ‘mons), and experience the conclusion of what feels like a sprawling, epic saga at this point. I’m particularly intrigued about meeting Iron Crown, a robotic version of Cobalion, which is one of my favorite Pokémon ever.

The cozy management game Bear and Breakfast is coming this week to PS5 and PS4 after making a splash on PC and Switch last year. All I can say is, yay for trophies!

Gnosia – December 14th (PS5, XSX, PS4, XB1)
Gnosia is an intriguing sci-fi mystery visual novel in which you play different roles in various episodic time loops. I greatly enjoyed my time playing Gnosia back when it released on the Nintendo Switch, and I’m thrilled that now more people will have the chance to try it out!
