Dragonwell Publishing and author Anna Kashina are partnering with Falcom to release Lacrimosa of Dana, an officially licensed novel based on Ys VIII! The book, which tells the story of Adol and Dana’s fight to save the human race, is expected to be made available this fall.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and PC via Steam.

So, What’s Lacrimosa of Dana All About?

Dragonwell Publishing has provided the following synopsis for the novel:

When Adol Christin boards the passenger liner Lombardia for an easy voyage across the Gaete Sea, he has no idea this journey will land him shipwrecked on the mysterious Seiren Island, home of an ancient curse that has plagued these waters for millennia. Nor can he possibly imagine that this act of fate will throw him into a battle against primordial powers set out to destroy the entire human race. Joined by Dana, a powerful young woman from another era, as well as by a handful of the Lombardia survivors, Adol must save his species from extinction, or perish along with everyone he knows. But even if he wins, there is no guarantee that he can ever attain the ultimate prize — a future with Dana.

The novel seems like a really great way to expand the Ys universe and bring more attention to the series. I’m sure there are many fans who can’t wait to get their hands on it.

If you haven’t yet given Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana a go, there’s no better time than the present. Before you do, make sure to give RPGFan’s review written by Derek Heemsbergen a read.
