Final Fantasy XVI is the sixteenth entry in the mainline Final Fantasy series, announced on September 16, 2020 for PlayStation 5 and PC. Rumors swirled for months that Final Fantasy XIV‘s director/producer Naoki Yoshida would be involved in FFXVI, and he is indeed the game’s producer, with Hiroshi Takai (Final Fantasy XIV, The Last Remnant) on board as director.
The first DLC, Echoes of the Fallen, was released during the 2023 Game Awards, on December 8th, 2023, with The Rising Tide set to follow in spring 2024.
