Developer Square Enix continues to make headlines in 2024, revealing new Visions of Mana gameplay footage for the second time in as many weeks. The latest update, part of the recent Xbox Developer Direct, contained the real highlight for Mana fans: a release window.
Visions of Mana is expected to be released by the end of summer 2024.
After the series’ official Twitter/X account released new screenshots last week, Xbox’s presentation contained a gameplay footage trailer that included new aerial combat moves, details on the elementals system, and a delightful new animal companion: the Pikul. Peep the trailer below:
Everyone loves a handy new animal companion. When introducing the Pikul itself, here’s what Square Enix had to say:
Designed by Mana Series Creator, Koichi Ishii, the adorable new companion takes inspiration from animals and mythology and will help players traverse the game’s expansive ground map as they explore the vibrant world in Visions of Mana.
Visions of Mana is the first new Mana title in 15 years. You can catch up on what you may have missed by checking out Ben Love‘s and Tin Manuel‘s recent write-ups.
If you are new to the Mana series (known in Japan as Seiken Densetsu), you can check out the most recent (re)entry into the series: 2020’s Trials of Mana (a remake of Seiken Densetsu 3). Greg Delmage reviewed the game positively, as did many other staffers.
