Tokimeki Memorial Sound Collection 3

Review by · November 9, 2001

Between the two Tokimeki SCs I’ve heard (the first being the other one), I like this one much more. The synths used are better, the live instruments have better solos…it’s just a pretty great album all in all.

This Sound Collection seems to cover some of the common BGM themes from the game, and there is some great stuff on here. The sax solo in “Battle with the Chief” is simply amazing…it’s fast, it’s furious…it’s all-around wild. I love this solo (yes, it’s sampled). There were a lot of tracks I would commonly skip over on the first CD…I can listen to this CD straight through. I think the extra year or so between the first Sound Collection and the others gave the Kukeiha Club some time to discover better ways to arrange Tokimemo music.

I personally would pay more for this Sound Collection than others, but if you really want it, continue to look for a $15-$20 price range. Its retail in yen was 3000 (about $27), so you’ll have to find it used to get such a deal. I did, I’m told a lot of people do, so keep an eye out for it. I got mine on eBay, so keep a constant look-out for these Tokimeki CDs on eBay (but watch out for the numerous bootlegs sold there!!!!).
