Symphonic Suite Dragon Quest IV ~The People Are Shown the Way~ (2009)

Review by · October 27, 2009

Alright, now I’m just annoyed.

Among all the Dragon Quest Symphonic Suites, none had as many prints, reprints, and re-recordings as Dragon Quest IV. And you’d think we’d finally had enough of it. But no, of course not! What was I thinking!

This particular release is nothing more than the first disc of the old NHK release (catalog number APCG-9001), but with track 8 split into two tracks (8 and 9) to match the more modern convention of having “sea” and “sky” tracks as separate entities.

With the exception of the cool cover art and some minor touch-ups in the mixing, I don’t think this is the version of the DQIV Symphonic Suite you want. Try to get either London Philharmonic or Tokyo Metropolitan. If you already have those and you’re some sort of sick completionist, I guess you can pick up this album as well. That wagon does look cool, after all.
