A website has surfaced that appears to be counting down to something involving .hack. The site was discovered by Reddit user /u/Apprehensive_Bet1980 and posted on /r/DotHack. It shows a countdown timer that will end on February 29th, 2024, against hexagons floating in the background.
Currently, no recent announcements or teasers have been announced by either .hack developer CyberConnect2 or publisher Bandai Namco. Another Reddit user mentioned in the discussion that GoDaddy, a domain provider, had re-registered the website this week, suggesting private use.
Last year, Bandai Namco hosted a livestream to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series. The event had live performances by singer LieN and saw CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama telling a Bandai Namco rep that a new project is in the works.

I’m trying my best not to freak out or keep my hopes up, but as someone who has enjoyed a few .hack games—specifically .hack//G.U. Vol.1//Rebirth up to Vol.3//Redemption—I’m still dreaming that the franchise would continue and an entirely new game would come out for modern platforms. At the same time, I would already be thrilled to see a remaster collection of the first four PlayStation 2 classics: Infection, Mutation, Outbreak, and Quarantine.
